San Angelo Drops Another One, 9-0
|
Ottawa and San Angelo took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
San Angelo had no answer for Ottawa Civics starter Roberto Mendez, who flummoxed Mustangs hitters as the Civics cruised to victory, 9-0. Mendez got the win, improving to 7-5. He gave up 2 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs.
Ottawa used the hitting of Israel Madrid to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Civics on top, 2-0. For the game, Madrid had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Big team win," Madrid said later.
With the win over San Angelo, the Civics improved to 69-64.
