Sting Capture 7-3 Win at BLM Stadium
|
Houston Sting starter Tony Ortiz was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Carmel Apples, 7-3. Houston reliever Tony Ortiz, who is tied for 9th in the RHA with a 4.39 ERA, was credited with the win. His record goes to 9-5. Ethan White took the loss for Carmel. Danny Umanzor got the save, his 13th in 16 chances.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Stefan Furse? The Houston center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sting on top, 5-3. For the game, Furse had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Furse told the Houston Observer.
The loss makes Carmel 86-74.
