Though he had a terrific game, Chris Paterson could not prevent his team, the El Paso Mavericks, from absorbing a loss. Montreal won the game, 7-5. Paterson was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Steve Herring picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Eric Reichel suffered the loss. Wolde-Selassie Ndegwa collected save number 3.

Montreal needed the clutch hitting of Randy Daly to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Jazz on top, 7-5. For the game, Daly had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It was terrific getting this win," Daly said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."

The 'W' lifts Montreal's record to 31-27.
