Montreal Wins League Championship Series
|
The Montreal Cardinals outclassed the Rosewell Tribbles in all facets of the game throughout the TR League Championship Series.
The end result was a Montreal series sweep to advance to the Rookie League Championship, capped off by a 13-4 win in the final game.
"We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said second baseman David Nieves, who hit .571 in the series.
Nieves's standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .700 on-base percentage and had 2 home runs, drove in 12 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The Montreal Cardinals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Scottsdale Scorpions - Thunder Bay Lighting series. Thunder Bay leads the series 2 games to 1. The Rookie League Championship schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
