The West Island Jazz defeated the Walnut Creek Warriors, 6-3, at Stade Claude Raymond. John Bernstein, the 12th overall pick in the 2059 draft, was a standout performer for West Island. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Ken Aubin, who is tied for 3rd in the RCL in quality starts with 8, was the winner. He's now 6-4. The loser was Keith Sill. Ernesto Herrera stitched up the save, his 17th.
West Island third baseman Dave Dimond Jr. helped the Jazz go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Dimond Jr. hit a run-scoring single off Walnut Creek pitcher Keith Sill.
"The team always comes first," Dimond Jr. told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
By defeating Walnut Creek, the second-place Jazz improved to 40-32.
