Riding the 3-hit performance of the 25-year old left fielder Carlos Ayala, the El Paso Mavericks defeated the Walnut Creek Warriors, 8-2. El Paso is now 45-38, while Walnut Creek is 54-29.

Danny Sullivan had a big 2-run home run for the Mavericks in the top of the third inning. With El Paso leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 2061 Cy Young Award winner Tom Clow and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Mavericks on top, 3-0.

Ayala attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
