Sullivan Helps Chargers Beat Golden Bears, 13-8
|
The Topeka West Chargers defeated the Billings West Golden Bears, 13-8, in part because of designated hitter Mike Sullivan. Sullivan went 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for the Chargers. The winner in relief was Owen Hylton. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-0. Joe Keefer collected his 1st save.
Topeka West used the hitting of William Stall to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Chargers on top, 5-4. For the game, Stall had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Sullivan told the Topeka West Daily News.
The Chargers saw their record improve to 23-11.
