Pioneers Get Dramatic 10-8 Triumph
The Vancouver Pioneers weathered a fine game by Dallas first baseman Matt Chabot to upend the Texans, 10-8, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Chabot went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Vancouver reliever Dennis Follett got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Chris Nugent was tagged with the loss. The second-place Pioneers have won 7 straight games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jose Vasquez in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old left-handed pitcher Chris Nugent to win the game for Vancouver. The home crowd went nuts.

"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Lemn Onkwani.
