Farley Slams 3 Deep for Eagle Rock
Thursday, September 11th , 2064
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at Ozark Mountain Stadium, as Carl Farley of the Eagle Rock Ridge Runners unloaded three times against the Mexico City Luchadores but was still bumped off, 8-7, by the Luchadores.
"We were lucky to win today," said Mexico City skipper Prince Percival Papenfuss. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Eagle Rock designated hitter had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 4.
Farley spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Carl Farley struck out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Juan Recio in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Westberry in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Westberry in the 8th.
Farley on the season is batting .297 with 20 home runs. His totals include 77 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has played in 124 games.
