Amarillo Armadillos first baseman Tyler Pate put on a dazzling display of power at Armadillos Park against the Pasadena Bumblebees. In the 14-5 Armadillos victory, Pate penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Pasadena manager David Williams said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 27-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Pate said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Tyler Pate flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Mike Coker in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Mike Coker in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Carlos Serrato in the 8th.

Looking at his stats this year, Pate has compiled a .296 batting average, while hitting 28 home runs and driving in 75 runs. He has played in 111 games and scored 78 runs.
