Nichols could only muster 1 hit and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Lopez, who controlled them throughout the game. Carmel won the contest, 12-0. Lopez added 9 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Lopez told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." This year, Lopez has a 8-6 mark in 20 starts with a 3.21 ERA. He has given up 121 hits in 137.1 innings, struck out 135 and issued 55 walks.
