West Virginia-St. Petersburg Brawl, Gonzalez and Gutierrez Suspended Wednesday, June 4th , 2064 After an intense confrontation, both the Dancin' Outlaws Emanuel Gonzalez and the Pelicans Willie Gutierrez were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent West Virginia-St. Petersburg game. Emanuel Gonzalez will miss 4 games, while Willie Gutierrez was suspended for 6 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Emanuel Gonzalez commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." Thus far this season, Gonzalez has hit .320 with 4 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 33 times. For this year, Gutierrez has chalked up no wins and 8 losses in 12 starts with 58 strikeouts in 59.1 innings and a 7.89 ERA. |
