Gonzalez Clips Magicians for Cycle
Tuesday, August 5th , 2064
Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Emanuel Gonzalez's day was a special one.
The right fielder hit for the cycle to spark the 17-9 West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws victory over the Baltimore Magicians at Baltimore Stadium. West Virginia manager Guy de Kleijn said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Gonzalez in particular.
"Emanuel caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."
For the day, Gonzalez finished with 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.
Emanuel Gonzalez tripled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Leon Ortiz in the 6th, walked in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
For the season, Gonzalez is batting .299 with 116 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 65 times and batted in 55.
