League Issues 4-Game Suspensions for Brawl
Saturday, September 13th , 2064
One player challenged the other with some angry words at the Civics-Five O's game at Civics Field yesterday. There was some pushing and shoving -- then the dugouts emptied. There was a lot of scuffling, but no punches thrown. When order was finally restored and the dust settled, the umpires ejected Ottawa's Israel Madrid and Oconomowoc's Guillermo Guajardo.
Now both antagonists will get some time off, courtesy of the league commissioner. They were suspended 4 games for inappropriate and aggressive behavior.
In 101 games Madrid is hitting .307 this season with 85 hits, 10 home runs, 66 RBIs, 82 walks, .473 OBP and has scored 61 runs.
To date this year, he has registered 1 save, 2 wins and 2 losses with a 4.22 ERA. Guajardo has made 18 relief appearances, worked a total of 49 innings and surrendered 51 hits. He has fanned 62, issued 22 free passes and held opposing clubs to a .276 batting average.
