At the age of 15, Jose Mejia says he still has a lot to learn about life in LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Rutland Voodoos reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2062 Hank Aaron Little League Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Dorado, Puerto Rico native said.
For the season, Mejia had no saves in 24 relief appearances, which totaled 41. He fanned 42 betters, while walking 23 and put up a record of 3-0 to go with his 3.29 ERA.
He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. Mike LaRiviere of the Kearny High Cardinals finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Jim Coture of the Frontance Falcons finished third.
