Barbados Snaps Toohey Streak at 27 Wednesday, September 17th , 2064 Easton catcher Ben Toohey came into today's game against the Barbados Revenge on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Revenge did their jobs well, beating the Easton Caterpillars, 17-0, and holding Toohey hitless to snap his 27-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old catcher had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Ben did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Caterpillars manager Mekonnen Asani. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 27 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." Toohey is currently hitting at a .359 pace with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs. |
