10-8 Loss Deepens Kansas City Funk
The Chicago Eclipse defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 10-8, in Roberto Clemente League action at Debris Field. Angelo Garcia pulled his weight. The 12-year veteran was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Mike Hursh, the winner, is now 2-2. He struck out 1 and walked 4 over 6 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. The save went to Jerry Bamberg, his 8th this season.

The Eclipse got a big hit from shortstop Larry Gilliland. Facing Kansas City pitcher Manuel Zepeda in the top of the seventh, Gilliland pounded a grand slam home run to right-center. His 4th home run of the season put the Eclipse ahead, 10-1.

"We're in a funk right now," said Kansas City skipper Lewis Cannon.

The Tornadoes, now 10-17, continue their poor start.
