Sonoma Scorpions starter Clayton Nygren was in fine form against the Okanagan Lake Monsters at Arnold Field, leading his team to a 5-1 win. Nygren got the win, improving to 2-3. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 5 innings. Nygren allowed 1 earned run. The Lake Monsters fall to 15-17 and continue their wobbly start to the 2044 season.
Alex Cerda, the Sonoma first baseman, contributed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-0, Scorpions. For the game, Cerda went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Nygren.
