| Gutierrez Goes Wild, But Vikings Win | The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws got a superb performance from first baseman Luis Gutierrez, but the Dublin Vikings still won the game, 6-5. Gutierrez was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Dublin reliever Matt Hendricksen picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-5. Mike Gordon was collared with the loss. Luis Herrera was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 22 save opportunities.
The Vikings got a big at-bat from second baseman Dan Poapst. For the game, Poapst was 1 for 5. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 65th hit of the season gave Dublin a 6-5 lead.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Dublin manager Mike Bergeron.
The Vikings bumped their record to 88-71 with this latest triumph.
