Thoroughbreds Hammered by Silva, Drop Game 5 to Blue Jays
|
The Toronto Blue Jays have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Aiken Thoroughbreds, winning, 7-4, at Exhibition Stadium. Blue Jays left fielder German Silva went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Blue Jays to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Fred Scott aided the Toronto cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Scott.
Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Aiken Stadium in Aiken.
