Lumberjacks Zap Mountaineers, 3-1

Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Adirondack Lumberjacks take on the Black Mountain Mountaineers.
In a low-scoring contest between the Adirondack Lumberjacks and the Black Mountain Mountaineers, Stu Carnell, who is tied for 7th in the RAA in complete games with 4, proved to be the difference. The Adirondack right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Lumberjacks win. The Lumberjacks saw their win-loss record go to 67-79. At the same time, the Mountaineers fell to 80-66.
Adirondack took a 2-1 lead on Ben Gordon's 9th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Gordon hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Black Mountain pitcher Andy Jones visibly frustrated.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Mario Encarnación.
