Hackers Score Late, Upend Mountaineers, 5-3
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers stopped the Black Mountain Mountaineers, 5-3, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The Hackers got a big game from Todd Barat, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Ron Williams in relief. His record improves to 8-6. Andy Nixon took the loss. The save went to Josh Criss, number 16 for him.
Silicon Valley took a 5-3 lead on Jose Calderon's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Calderon hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Black Mountain pitcher Bryan Tolman visibly frustrated.
Calderon attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
Silicon Valley has won 3 straight, while Black Mountain has lost 4 in a row.
