Cornhuskers Bedevil Steelheads, 5-4
|
The DeKalb Cornhuskers and Roaring River Steelheads played an entertaining game for Casino Grounds patrons.
The DeKalb Cornhuskers overcame a pretty good performance by Roaring River left fielder John Dunaway, beating the Steelheads, 5-4, at Casino Grounds. Dunaway went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. DeKalb goes to 71-84, Roaring River to 55-100.
Joe Pacific came through with a big-time hit for DeKalb. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said DeKalb manager Kinnojo Hara. "It's usually not just one thing."
