DeKalb Cornhuskers starter Edgar Gonzalez was on his game, helping his team beat the Windsor Royals, 4-2. Kenny Hoyles finished to wrap up his 18th save. The win puts the Cornhuskers at 72-83, while the Royals drop to 97-58.
DeKalb used a well-timed hit by Tony Alvarez to capture the win. The second baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Cornhuskers ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
In postgame remarks, Alvarez hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
