Seagulls Prevail, 2-1, Over Evanston
|
Dave Rios was nothing short of phenomenal for the Clearwater Seagulls. The 24-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Evanston Bishops, 2-1. Rios yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 7-11. Joe Sargent was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 27 save opportunities.
Clearwater used a clutch at-bat from Brian Frazier to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Seagulls ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Frazier attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The Seagulls, at 74-87, inhabit 5th place in the TML AA Jim Leyland Division.
