Rams Curb Whitecaps, 9-7
|
The Frisco Rams beat the Boston Whitecaps, 9-7, at Outlander Park. Frisco center fielder Jonathan Bergendahl had an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Earning the save was Nick Loyd. He's now cashed in 18 of 21 save opportunities. The 6th-place Rams have won 4 straight games.
The Whitecaps had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rams going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Tony Curiel came to the plate. Curiel hit a grand slam home run on a 1-2 splitter from Boston hurler Angel Payan. It was Curiel's 8th home run of the year.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Curiel, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
