The Fraser Valley Black Bears inaugurated the 2063 campaign with a disappointing 8-5 loss to the Sandy Springs Spartans at The Stetson Bowl. Sandy Springs designated hitter Herb Harrison had a big impact on the outcome. He went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3.

Ian Sturgeon was 1-4 for Sandy Springs. The slick-fielding center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Adam DeVoe. It was his 1st hit of the season.
