Evanston got a valiant performance from pitcher Ruben Rivas, but it wasn't enough to beat the Carson City Mustang. Carson City won the game, 4-3. Rivas threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Armando Ramos, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Matt Nicholas closed the door for Carson City, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Theodore McGillis? The 25-year old second baseman McGillis stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put Carson City up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We did enough to win," said McGillis.
The defeat makes Evanston 5-3.
