Roaring River Sends Silicon Valley Packing with 4-3 Loss
|
The Roaring River Steelheads topped the Silicon Valley Hackers, 4-3, in RCL AA action at Casino Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Roaring River pitcher Matt Donohue. Donohue, now 3-0, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Jared Hutson recorded the save, his 4th.
Paul Jones had a big run-scoring double for the Steelheads in the bottom of the third inning. With Roaring River leading 3-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Tanner and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Steelheads ahead, 4-0.
Donohue called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
Silicon Valley is now 8-5.
