Pipe Fitters Bridle Cornhuskers, 4-2
|
The Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters picked up a win at Pipe Fitters Park, defeating the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 4-2. Starting pitcher Rod Horta was an essential part of his team's success. Picking up his 5th save was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Dean Armstrong. The Cornhuskers, now 3-10, continue their inauspicious start.
In the top of the ninth, Ben Gail stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Cornhuskers were trailing 4-2, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Dean Armstrong made a terrific pitch and Gail struck out. Gone was the dream of a DeKalb comeback.
