The DeKalb Cornhuskers wasted an impressive 6.2-inning effort from starter Ciro Della Volpe, falling, 2-1, to the Clearwater Seagulls at Chapman Field. Andres Luna, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings. Clearwater goes to 7-6.
The Seagulls got a big at-bat from right fielder Mike Seagren. For the game, Seagren went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Clearwater a 2-1 lead.
"Bottom line," said DeKalb skipper Trey Burrell, "we didn't play well enough to win."
