Mountaineers Get Better of Cornhuskers, 6-2
|
The performance of Danny Salas proved critical in helping Black Mountain beat DeKalb, 6-2. The Mountaineers center fielder was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Bill Cavanagh, who threw 109 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. Andy Jones recorded his 3rd save for Black Mountain.
Lloyd Lee hit a run-scoring double off John Kibler in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Mountaineers in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Lee had 3 singles, while going 4 for 5.
"We want to make a habit of winning," Salas said after the game.
The loss makes the Cornhuskers 5-9.
