The Boston Whitecaps besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Wichita first baseman Erik Kent by beating the Wolverines, 9-6, at Howling Park. Kent went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Shane Burns earned the win, while 23-year old left-handed pitcher Craig Ericson took the loss for Wichita. The Wolverines drop to 5-11, as their fitful start to the 2063 campaign continues.

Boston second baseman Kenny Cox contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a cutter to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 12th hit of the season and put the Whitecaps ahead, 7-2.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Cox told the Boston Herald.
