The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Murraysville Peacocks weathered an outstanding game by Beaumont center fielder Wilson Pizano to topple the Drillers, 6-5. Pizano went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Murraysville pitcher Cameron Williford earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Jamie Edwards suffered the loss. Jared Haney nailed down the save.
Had Zack Levin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Levin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Peacocks.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Levin said in reaction to the win.
Beaumont is now 6-13.
