Reinert Lifts Royals to 8-3 Win
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Windsor Royals topped the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 8-3, with designated hitter Jason Reinert playing a big role. Reinert went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Royals in the win. Gustavo Castillo went 5.2 innings for Windsor to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 7. His record improves to 2-1. Victor Valdez earned the save for Windsor.
Michael Winters, who is tied for 3rd in the RAA in stolen bases with 7, chipped in a 2-run home run for Windsor in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Not the sexiest win," said Royals manager Luis Hernández, "but I'll take it."
With the loss, Buzzard's Bay falls to 15-13.
