On Road, Adirondack Beats Beaumont, 7-4
|
The Adirondack Lumberjacks picked up a win at Drillers Stadium, downing the Beaumont Drillers, 7-4. On the mound for Adirondack was right-hander Harry Marella, who played a pivotal role in the win. Marella, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. Beaumont, with the loss, is 8-16.
Adirondack used a clutch at-bat from Dean Whiffen to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Lumberjacks ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Marella.
