Spartans Claim Late Win
The Sandy Springs Spartans beat the Boston Whitecaps, 8-7, in 10 innings, in part because of first baseman Nick Rausch. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Matt Richards was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Tim Rae. Sandy Springs goes to 12-14.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Sandy Springs. That's when Ricardo Medrano hit a solo home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Tim Rae to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Spartans manager Rafael Alonso.
