Rats Fall, 9-6, to McGillis, Mustang
|
The Carson City Mustang trumped the Rock River Rats, 9-6, at The Rat Hole. Carson City second baseman Theodore McGillis was terrific. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. The winner was Carson City reliever Phil Miller, now 7-1. The loser was Lee Pearl. Matt Nicholas earned the save for Carson City, his 11th of the year.
With Carson City trailing 6-5 in the top of the ninth, McGillis hit a fastball from Lee Pearl for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Mustang ahead, 9-6.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Mustang manager Orinosuke Matsuoka. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
With the win, Carson City boosts its record to 20-12.
