Chung goes 3-for-3 in Evanston Win
|
The Evanston Bishops defeated the Spokane Bulldogs, 5-3. Catcher Sung-oo Chung deserved a large share of the credit. Chung went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Bishops. Symão Alegro, the winner, is now 3-4. He struck out 5 and walked 4 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Harry Fox earned the save for Evanston.
Evanston left fielder Jessie Porter contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Bishops ahead, 2-0.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
The loss drops Spokane to 7-25.
