The Boston Whitecaps outlasted Miguel Benavides and the Louisiana Crocodiles, 9-8. Benavides was impressive in the loss. The Louisiana left fielder slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Jude Helmer picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Roberto Samper suffered the loss. The win takes Boston to 17-15.

The decisive blow was delivered by Kenny Cox in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a bases-clearing double off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Roberto Samper to win the game for Boston. The home crowd went nuts.

Said Cox: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
