The Boston Whitecaps downed the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters, 5-4, at Pipe Fitters Park. Bobby Washburn led the way, going 2-for-3 for Boston. Danny Arias came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. The save was credited to Tim Rae, his 1st.

Boston used a timely hit from Jesus Pelayo to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Whitecaps ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

Washburn said afterward that "winning, obviously, is the main objective."

The Whitecaps saw their record improve to 21-13.
