Steelheads Clip Whitecaps, 4-3
|
Roaring River beat Boston on the strength of starting pitcher David Harkey's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The winner was Harkey. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Bill Larimore. The third-place Steelheads improved to 22-19.
The Steelheads benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the second. With Christian Bouton at bat and Roaring River leading 3-0, the Boston miscue allowed Roaring River to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-0.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Bouton told the Roaring River Observer.
