Slumping Wolverines Lose 7th Straight
|
The Rock River Rats picked up a win at Howling Park, knocking off the Wichita Wolverines, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jimmy Welch was a big reason why. Steve Lees picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Orlando Sanchez suffered the loss. With the win, Rock River pushed its record to 32-17.
Alex Miguel came through with a big-time hit for Rock River. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Wichita manager Abel Keller said, following the tough loss.
