Sandy Springs starter Jeff Stephens pitched well against the Fraser Valley Black Bears at The Coliseum. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-5, in 12 innings. The 4th-place Spartans bumped their record to 25-25.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 12th, 27-year old second baseman Ethan Cox had a chance to be the hero. Fraser Valley pitcher Chris Roberts wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Cox got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. The Spartans had themselves a thrilling win.

"The crowd was juiced," said Stephens.
