Rivero Leads Kelowna to 9-7 Win with 3 Jacks
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Bruce Rivero, the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Boston Whitecaps, 9-7. Rivero belted 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times for the Rockets. Kelowna reliever Edwin Palacios picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Adam Walsh was tagged with the loss. The Rockets, at 25-27, inhabit 4th place in the RCL AA Lou Piniella League.
Kelowna used a timely hit from Sam Hammond to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rockets ahead, 9-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Rivero told the Kelowna News.
