Monarchs Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
Starting pitcher Alex Gurule gave the Marysville Monarchs a rock-solid effort. The Villa Isabela, Dominican Republic native helped his team defeat the Spokane Bulldogs, 3-2, at Mitts Fieldhouse. The winning pitcher was Gurule, now 2-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 4. Mark Huffer earned the save for Marysville, his 9th of the year.

Had Alberto Gutierrez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Gutierrez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Monarchs.

After the game, Marysville manager Angel Gareia applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.

The Monarchs now have a mark of 18-38.
