Rockets Make Mustang 8-5 Losers
The Carson City Mustang could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Juan Alvarez into a win. Instead, the Kelowna Rockets prevailed, 8-5. Alvarez came in in relief and pitched to 21 batters. Jeff Spotton, the winner, is now 3-1. He struck out 5 and walked 4 over 7 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. Bill Douglas earned the save for Kelowna, his 9th of the year.

Kelowna used the hitting of John Downey to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Rockets on top, 4-0. For the game, Downey had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
