Silicon Valley pitcher Mark Tanner had a large part in his team beating the Evanston Bishops, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Tanner, the winner, moves to 9-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The RCL AA Lou Piniella League-leading Hackers have a record of 40-18.

It could have been a different outcome for Silicon Valley, had it not been for Justin Sheridan, the 22-year old catcher . Sheridan contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Silicon Valley up, 3-1.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Silicon Valley manager Brad Jones. "It's usually not just one thing."
