Niagara Falls beat Evanston in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters had to overcome a big game from Evanston first baseman Tom Ronca to leave FUBU Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-5. Ronca went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Joe Singer, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Jason Griffith closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.

Niagara Falls used a big swing from Melvin Baca to get the win. The second baseman walloped a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Pipe Fitters up, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Baca told reporters after the game.

The Pipe Fitters now have a mark of 23-27.
