Roaring River Defeats Marysville, 5-2
|
The Roaring River Steelheads got a strong performance from pitcher Luis Vargas, who stymied the Marysville offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Mitts Fieldhouse. Luis Vargas picked up the win in relief for Roaring River, while Roberto Pacheco took the loss. Marysville has now lost 5 in a row.
Roaring River used the timely hitting of Roberto Marin to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Steelheads on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Vargas attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
